The Minimax BWCon 1.400 fire protection trough is used wherever IBCs filled with a max. of 1,000 liters of flammable liquid have to be stored.

When a fire breaks out on an IBC filled with flammable liquid, the container melts and allows liquid to escape. The Minimax fire protection trough encloses the escaping liquid as far as possible and stops contact with the fire source on the IBC. This prevents an uncontrollable propagation of fire by burning liquid.

With the built-in flame arrester, a filter mat made of stainless steel wire mesh, burning liquid can be extinguished and effectively shielded from the fire source. The flammable or burning liquid runs through the flame arrester into the fire protection trough. This way the greater part of the flammable liquid is removed from the fire on the IBC and extinguished or shielded by the flame arrester. The fire can then be easily extinguished, e. g. with a fire extinguisher.

A 60 cm overhang at the front of the fire protection trough with a low splash guard and three closed walls prevent an uncontrolled escape of the liquid from the damaged IBC to the ground.

If a sprinkler system is activated by the spread of fire on the IBC, besides the 1,000 liters of flammable liquid from the IBC the Minimax fire protection trough will hold a further 400 liters of extinguishing water. This volume would additionally be brought into the fire protection trough via a sprinkler system during an approx. 20 minute extinguishing time.

The Minimax BWCon 1.400 fire protection trough is front-loading. The low splash guard has to be folded down to allow this. Due to the projection on the front of the fire trough, pallet roller rails allow loading by forklifts with standard fork length.

• There must be no flammable materials within a radius of 2 m of the intake side of the fire protection trough.
• The operator must carry out regular visual checks of the fire protection trough and check whether the flame arrester is not contaminated and thus still permeable or if there is any liquid in the collecting reservoir.
• Suitable for liquids up to a kinematic viscosity of 8.0 mm²/s. (The viscosity can usually be found in the safety data sheet of the liquid.)
